What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the ancient art of Chinese medicine which has been practiced for more than 3000 years. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine system, the healthy body is balanced with Qi(energy) flowing freely throughout the body in specific channels and nourishing the organs. If the free flow of Qi or blood is interrupted, disharmony occur leading to illness or pain. Acupuncture adjusts the flow of Qi and blood in the body, leading them to areas of depletion and draining them from areas of excess. I this way acupuncture restores the harmonious balance of the body.

Acupuncture activates self-healing abilities of body. It strengthens immunity, supports physical and emotional health. It is a safe and effective way to treat variety of medical conditions.

The initial evaluation with treatment will last about 60-90 minutes as the detailed patient's health history is taken and proper diagnosis obtained by examination of the patient's pulse and tongue. Then acupuncturist inserts very thin needles into the skin at certain points on the patient's body. Any subsequent treatments will last 45-60 minutes.

Most patients find treatments relaxing and rejuvenating. If possible, please wear comfortable loose fitting clothing, otherwise a changing gown will be provided to you. 

Please have a light snack about 30 minutes prior your treatment.
